WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR THERAPY SESSIONS.
The first initial sessions are a time to build rapport and trust and to discuss what brings you to counseling. Together, we'll explore your goals, needs and what you hope to gain from therapy. Your professional counselor will also gather information through assessments and background history to help create a treatment plan that fits you.
Counseling is a collaborative process. We will work together to identify what is most important to you, whether that is processing trauma, improving relationships, reducing stress and anxiety or finding more balance in your everyday life.
Counseling is a process and is not about perfection. While some sessions may bring relief, others may be challenging, but reminding yourself it is a step forward to build resilience, self-awareness and a stronger sense of self.

ABOUT YOUR PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
Jennifer Leal, MA, LPC-Associate began her career working with children and families involved in the child welfare system. This experience opened her eyes to the deep impact of generational trauma and the ways adults and older youth often go without the support and compassion they need to break old patterns and the resources and support necessary to create meaningful change.
Jennifer graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. Her experience consists of supporting individuals involved in the justice system, outpatient mental health services, multisystemic therapy, substance use treatment, and child welfare, bringing empathy, transparency and strength to every session.
Healing happens in Waves.
